In the tradition of ABC News correspondent Diane Sawyer’s friendly encounter with Bashar al-Assad in 2007, NBC’s Ann Curry all but gushes over Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during what is purported to be a typical day in the life of the Iranian president.

Curry’s softball questions include:
–“Mr President, why have you come to one of the poorest parts of Iran to highlight the arts and crafts?”
–“Why do you work so hard?”
–“What do you see as the future of Iran?”
George Galloway would have been proud. And unlike Galloway, Curry doesn’t even rely on a paycheck from the Iranian regime.
Curry promises more questions in an interview for broadcast Tuesday. We can only hope for something better.
Stay tuned.
