Cheney in Riyadh

In 2006 The Washington Post reported that the rulers of Saudi Arabia “basically summoned” then-Vice President Dick Cheney to Riyadh for talks about the perilous situation in Iraq– and he went.

Now former Vice President Cheney has turned up in Riyadh for a meeting with King Abdullah.

Since leaving office last year, Cheney has been busily accusing President Obama of being soft on terror— while his nominal former boss Bush is holding his peace. Cheney has also been working on his memoirs, and has reportedly told some people that he thinks Bush himself was something of a softie.

So perhaps Cheney was in Riyadh to commune with people who share some of his ideas on dealing with accused terrorists.
