White House counsel Alberto Gonzales– author of a memo to President Bush arguing that the terrorism fight “renders obsolete Geneva’s strict limitations on questioning of enemy prisoners and renders quaint some of its provisions”– is facing some tough questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee on his nomination to be the next Attorney General.
