Labour plead with Guardian

Our own election time is coming sooner than we think and already New Labour is piling the pressure on the media.

Last week Pat MacFadden, one of Tony Blair’s advisers, met Michael White, political editor of the Guardian at a party.

‘Mike,’ he said. ‘Just before the by-election the Guardian told the people of Hartlepool to vote Lib Dem, and they voted Labour.

‘Then you told the people of Clark County, Ohio, to vote for Kerry, and they voted for Bush.

‘Er, is there any chance the Guardian will come out for the Tories at the next election?’
