Conference regulations

The conference will take place on Sunday 10 March in London. Registration will begin at Xam.

Conference begins promptly at Xam.

Deadline for articles for the Internal Bulletin is 10am, Friday 1 March. Please keep your articles as short as possible and send to xx@xx Please do not send to other email addresses. You will receive an acknowledgement within three working days. If you do not, please contact the National Office xx xxx xxx.

Motions: The deadline for motions for conference is the same as for the IB – 10am, Friday 1 March. Motions will be on the same basis as the protocol we adopted for last conference – that is they must be passed by a branch, district aggregate, fraction, NC or the CC. Motions for branches must be circulated to members well in advance of the meeting so that comrades know what is being discussed.

Aggregates: Districts will be allocated dates for aggregates by the National Office. If there are particular dates you wish to avoid, please contact the National Office asap. Aggregates will discuss the issues that conference will consider, and elect delegates. Do not clash with half term in your area. A list of aggregates will be sent out later this week.

Factions: Can be formed as set out in the constitution – “If a group of members disagrees with a specific party policy, or a decision taken by a leading committee of the party, they may form a faction by producing a joint statement signed by at least 30 members of the party.”
The national office has already been informed of one faction being formed. Its statement was distributed with the CC document on Saturday. Again, if you did not receive it please contact xx@xx The faction can be contacted at xx.xx

The CC and the Conference Arrangements Committee will be discussing detailed faction rights.
However our constitution is very clear on certain points: “A faction will be given reasonable facilities to argue its point of view and distribute its documents. These must be circulated through the National Office, to ensure that all members have the chance to consider them.”

Support the CC statement: A group of comrades who back the CC statement are collecting names in support. They cannot form a faction because they support the party’s policies! To add your name email xxx.xx

Accommodation for conference: If you can offer accommodation for delegates or need somewhere to stay on the Saturday night, please contact X on xx xx or xx@xx

Conduct of the debate: It is very important that everyone involved in the debate acts in a fraternal manner. Insults, slurs and denigration of other comrades are completely unacceptable.
