Members Interests

I’ve just been browsing on the House of Commons Members’ Interest Site

Some of the information I found isn’t terribly surprising – a lot of Tory MP’s have directorships in companies and a similar amount of Labour MP’s are sponsored by Trades Unions.

Some entries are more interesting to the prurient though. Anne Widdecombe got a £100,000 advance for two novels this year (before a performance bonus). Gordon Brown has no interests outside work, Kenneth Clarke appears to be running British industry single-handedly, Menzies Campbell occasionally turns up in court as a barrister when funds run low and – surprise, surprise – George Galloway undertook a lot of recent travel to the middle-east.
