The Labour Party is ready to let Ken Livingstone rejoin the party in time for the London mayoral elections.
This despite the fact that Labour already has a democratically elected candidate for the elections in Nicky Gavron.
Now when was the last time Labour decided to just discard the democratically chosen candidate for mayor of London?
We can mock the way the Tories chose their leader using the old method of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, but while regaining Livingstone may make a lot of political sense and in some ways rights a wrong, it also sends a rather depressing message to local Labour party members about their powers.
Never mind comrades you can always clap away at next year’s ‘conference’.
