Iranian gets Peace Prize

An Iranian lawyer and human rights activist– who has been jailed a number of times by the Tehran regime– will be awarded this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. The reaction of the mullahs can be judged by the terseness of the report by the Islamic Republic News Agency.

I had been hoping the the Cuban democracy advocate Oswaldo Paya would get the prize, at least in part so I could enjoy the reaction of Granma. Well, maybe next year.

Update: The IRNA now is quoting a number of government officials showering praise on Ms. Ebadi for winning the prize. No mention yet of her specific activities or her incarcerations.
