The Daily Telegraph today publishes a letter signed by a ‘cross party alliance’ of 58 MPs and Peers, opposed to marriage equality. The letter bears the signature of the following Labour MPs:
- Joe Benton MP
- Mary Glindon MP
- Jim Dobbin MP
The others, by and large, are Tories with a fair few Unionists.
One name that is missing from the list of signatories is that of Bob Blackman MP, the politician who would like to bring back the notorious Section 28. It is a strange omission, because Mr Blackman is so strongly in favour of heterosexual coupling, that he apparently betrayed his wife with another woman for an impressive eleven years:
A TOP Tory politician who claimed marriage could only work between “one man and one woman” is today exposed as a cheating husband.
Ambitious MP Bob Blackman had an 11-year affair behind devoted wife Nicola’s back, his former mistress reveals.
Carol Shaw tells how he used to sneak away from home for regular Friday afternoon romps with her when they were both Tory councillors.
She says they also had sex in his marital bed and at an office where he worked.
Carol, 62, kept a lid on their affair until the outspoken right-winger controversially waded into the debate on gay marriage earlier this month.
After Blackman, 58, insisted marriage had to be “between one man and one woman” his infuriated secret ex-lover decided enough was enough.
“I couldn’t believe a man who had an affair with me for over 11 years could have the cheek to preach about the sanctity of marriage,” she told the Sunday Mirror.
“You have to be squeaky clean to do that and he has made a mistake.
“Bob is an absolute hypocrite. He talks about marriage being between one man and one woman… but why does he not practice what he preaches?
“More than once I asked about his wife and I got the impression one day he might leave her, because he said he could love two people at the same time.”
Well, he would say that, wouldn’t he?
