Recently I praised Argentine President Nestor Kirchner for reactivating the investigation of the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish community center, which killed more than 80 people.
Since then the UK government has detained the former Iranian ambassador to Argentina for possible extradition in connection with the atrocity. Now Iran has retaliated by breaking economic and cultural ties with Argentina.
I won’t try to read anything into the Iranian regime’s action, but I hope that after years of stalling by previous Argentine governments, we’re getting closer to the truth.
