This morning I am publishing a thread that will briefly demonstrate why there was/continues to be such deep mistrust towards @jeremycorbyn from the Jewish community. I could give several examples, however I am going to use one event that Corbyn attended in 2014.

I don't actually think that anyone has publicly highlighted this event. It is also worth noting that it took place only a year before Corbyn was elected as @UKLabour leader.

The event in question is called "Freedom for Palestine – Islington rally & BDS activity". It took place on the 16th of August 2014 in Jeremy Corbyn's constituency of Islington North. Corbyn attended as one of the speakers at the event. pic.twitter.com/0cVUQpUYKd

By any stretch this was a small event. Corbyn has spoken at rallies with tens of thousands of people. This protest was small and there were only about 70-90 people in attendance. So lets take a look at what was on display and who attended the rally shall we…..

First up is this beauty. The Israeli flag with the Star of David twisted into a swastika and blood dripping across it. By all accounts this is antisemitic. pic.twitter.com/u3I9yjkC2i

In attendance at the rally was the Neturei Karta – a tiny sect of Orthodox anti-Israel Jews whose UK leaders have previously stated that those who died in the Holocaust deserved it (https://t.co/gaSXhc6qVr) pic.twitter.com/c5x5dxpaGN

They are so fringe they are considered to be outside the UK Jewish community. Look at who is happy to stand next to them. This is why when Corbyn says "I want to engage with the full range and diversity of Jewish organisations" the community is deeply concerned. pic.twitter.com/P2PqHl4gwC

If you want to understand more about the Neturei Karta and how they give legitimacy to antisemites/antisemitism, read this brilliant piece by @Daniel_Sugarman – https://t.co/cv9xNlokZk

Also being held up at the rally was a cartoon showing Netanyahu as a butcher holding a meat cleaver standing in a pool of blood. The antisemitic undertones are enough to make any Jewish person feel deeply uncomfortable. pic.twitter.com/OIVwAyIO8b

I would give the cartoonist the benefit of the doubt, but given his other work, I'm not so sure….. pic.twitter.com/5GA0nsUX4S

Finally is this t-shirt with "Long live Hamas" and an AK-47 emblazoned on the back. pic.twitter.com/zzMHRoAoV5

@mishtal's fantastic report on the Palestine Live Facebook group (https://t.co/jSCLkvb1ZR) demonstrated that online @jeremycorbyn was in a cesspit antisemitism. As we keep discovering, it wasn't just online – it was on the ground too, at tiny rallies just like this.

A tiny rally held in his constituency where antisemitism and extremism probably went unchallenged. Did he not see it? Did he not understand it? Or did he just not care? All three are damning indictments for Corbyn and demonstrate why the community does not trust him. pic.twitter.com/yfTV9jG7ml
