The good people behind The Times archive Twitter account, @TimesArchive, have brought to my attention the following snippet:

CHICAGO AND THE NEW GRAPE JUICE

AL CAPONE’S THREAT

(From our own Correspondent)

The Times, November 15, 1930, p.12.

The manufacturers of the new preparation of grape juice, guaranteed to turn into wine within 60 days, which is being sold in large quantities in Milwaukee, have been notified by Al Capone that whatever action the Federal Government might take in the matter, he would not permit them to sell their product in Chicago. His warning to the company mentioned that anyone who attempted to invade his beer territory with this competing product would be shot.
