Nice touch by the No To AV campaign with this ad (the first of three all below) that airs tonight resurrecting 80s sitcom character Alan B’Stard (Rik Mayall).
The fictional Tory MP, now an independent, is planning a return to politics as the new AV system allows him to say anything to get elected. So there are policies for all (free housing, electricity and, of course, no tuition fees).
In a nod to the recent behaviour of Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats over the tuition fees increase, Alan B’Stard remarks that once he gets elected, all he need do is “blame the other lot and say we had to do it in the ‘national interest’.”
