This Saturday the “Stop the War Coalition” (StWC) will hold its national student conference at the University of London Union. Here is the
speaker list, as presented by the StWC:
– Ilan Pappe Israeli anti-zionist historian
– George Galloway MP
– Shamiul Joarder Friends of Al Aqsa
– Lindsey German Convenor Stop the War Coalition
– Lowkey Musician and MC
– Sabah Jawad Iraqi Democrats Against Occupation
– Guy Smallman Photo-journalist recently returned from Afghanistan
This post covers two of the speakers, Shamiul Joarder and Lowkey.
Shamiul Joarder is an officer of the StWC and Head of Public Affairs of the Friends of al Aqsa, a Leicester-based group dedicated to hatred of Israel. In the past he has worked for the Muslim Association of Britain, one of the UK’s most radical Islamist groups (which is currently pushing a disgusting organ theft blood libel). He is also a trustee at the Muslim Safety Forum, alongside the jihad-loving civil servant Azad Ali.
Here he is in angry form, blustering away at the launch of “Kafa”, an Islamist bid to use “Islamophobia” as a political tool, backed by the StWC.
Friends of al Aqsa is headed by Ismail Patel, who also serves on the StWC’s national steering committee. Here he is haranguing the crowd for Hamas, dividing good Jews from bad ones, and deciding for himself who speaks for Jews at one of the Gaza demonstrations in London this winter.
“Hamas is no terrorist organisation. The reason they hate Hamas is because they refuse to be subjugated, occupied by the Israeli state, and we salute Hamas for standing up to Israel.”
…
“…to the state of Israel: you no longer represent the Jewish people. You have no moral authority to speak for the Jewish people when thousands of Jews are against what you are doing. And finally, to the British Jewish Board of Deputies, shame on you, to work, to promote the genocide of the Palestinian people and the war crimes of the Israeli government. You do not speak for the British Jewry who today have signed in the Guardian against the Jewish government, what it is doing to the Palestinian people. Shame on the British Jewish Board of Deputies.”
Oh, by the way, Patel recommends the work of Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy.
Have a look round the Friends of al Aqsa website. In the house journals, you will find the work of notorious antisemites, such as Gilad Atzmon, Israel Shamir, and Paul Eisen (all pdf links).
Then there’s the “articles” section. It often features the work of Palestinian journalist Khalid Amayreh. Here’s a typical Israelis-are-Nazis and they control America piece:
The latest carnage in Gaza didn’t occur in isolation. The entire Gaza Strip has been languishing under a harsh blockade that has much in common with the Nazi blockade of the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland in 1943.
This is a truth that many people in Europe and North America can’t bring themselves to accept, at least openly, because it is not politically correct to do so. Well, does the West need to see a full-fledged holocaust in Palestine in order to cast the holocaust guilt off its shoulders? Must Palestinian children be slaughtered every morning and every evening in order to finally bring about the long-awaited recuperation of Europe from the holocaust complex?
As a result of barring the estimated 1.5 million Gaza inhabitants from accessing food, work, medicine and fuel, the vast bulk of the population has been forced into abject poverty and virtual starvation.
Ill people who can’t find the needed medicine and required medical care in local health facilities, are left to succumb to their illnesses. It is believed that more than 200 innocent Gazan patients have so far died as a direct result of the callous Nazi-like siege.
This happens as Israeli officials appearing on western TV screens keep assuring the mostly nonchalant or morally-apathetic western audiences that under no circumstances would Israel allow a “humanitarian crisis” to develop in Gaza. Well, what, apart from lies, do we expect from Zionism, a Godless, satanic ideology based on murder, theft and mendacity?
…
Yes, Israel is militarily and economically powerful; it has a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons, and pro-Israeli pressure groups control the American government as well as much of the media and show business in the United States. So what?
Evil states, like evil people, don not last forever. And Israel will be no exception.
Here is another one from Amayreh:
Hence, Jews around the world, especially those who support Israel, should be willing to bring themselves to recognizing that what their wonderful state is doing to these helpless Palestinians is a virtual holocaust or at least a holocaust in the making.
How else can any honest person relate to these phantasmagoric images that keep coming from Gaza, haunting the conscience of every human being?
True, Israel had not introduced gas chambers in Beit Hanun and Khan Younis or Rafah. But we have F-16s raining down bombs and death on sleeping children and women and innocent civilians.
If Jews who support this satanic entity are not willing to call the spade a spade and recognize a holocaust as a holocaust, then they should be viewed as active accomplices in this wanton rampage of murder and terror.
…Well, if Israel thinks that carrying out a holocaust against its victims in Gaza and Rafah and Khan Younis can be justified, then why blame Hitler for effecting a holocaust against his own respective enemies? Is Vilnai vindicating the holocaust?
I think Jews should realize that this criminal state, with its manifestly intransigence and bellicosity, is forcing them to make a moral judgment. In the face of evil, and Israel is a clear embodiment of evil, one can’t be neutral. It is either one stands with evil or stands against it.
Then there is this calumny, republished from another Israel hatred site called “redress”:
Gordon Brown puts Israel lobbyist in charge of Britain’s Middle East policy
Britain’s prime minister has put a notorious pro-Israel lobbyist in charge of policy in the Middle East, Iraq and Iran, reaffirming his determination to continue with his Zionist policies even as his administration approaches the end of its life.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has appointed an Israeli agent of influence and proponent of genocide in Gaza to a key position at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Britain’s foreign ministry.
On 9 June, Ivan Lewis was given a major promotion in Mr Brown’s government when he was appointed Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with responsibility for Middle East policy, Iraq, Iran, counterterrorism and Anglo-American relations. According to one source, he is now “just one step away from the cabinet”.
Speaking after his promotion, Mr Lewis said: “My responsibility for the Middle East peace process is particularly poignant. I have never hidden my pride at being Jewish or my support for the State of Israel”.
Presumably, as Head of Public Affairs for Friends of al Aqsa, Mr Joarder has no problem with poisonous antisemitic rhetoric published in his organisation’s name. Perhaps he has published some of these articles on the al Aqsa website himself?
Turning to Lowkey, here is some 9/11 trooferism published by the StWC:
One day I was running from the truth,
To speed me up they gave me these shoes,
So tie my feet with Nike’s,
Tell me lies about the 11th of September,
…
It was the planes.
Not controlled demolition,
The BBC didn’t report the explosion of Building 7,
20 minutes before hand, on my television,
They found passport’s and plane flying manuals belonging to terrorists in the rubble.
That all makes perfect sense
Here he is at the January 10 Gaza demonstration in London, which ended with the trashing of a Starbucks coffee shop near the Israeli embassy:
Every coin is a bullet, if you’re Mark’s and Spencer,
And when your sipping Coca-Cola,
That’s another pistol in the holster of a soulless soldier,
You say you know about the Zionist lobby,
But you put money in their pocket when you’re buying their coffee
Then there’s this aperçu from Lowkey:
Nothing is more anti-Semitic than Zionism
So please don’t bring bad vibes when you speak to me
There’s plenty of Rabbis that agree with me
I suppose this is a variation of the utterly ridiculous “but Arabs are Semites too” wriggling manoeuvre when concerns about antisemitism are raised.
So, are you a London student? Do you hate Israel and love racism? Now you know where to go this Saturday.
