Iraq

The same fight

A reminder that atrocities like Thursday’s terrorist attacks in London are almost routine daily events in Iraq.

As Andrew Sullivan wrote:

The war in London will be won in part in Iraq. Resolve in one place is indistinguishable from resolve in the other.

It’s silly to suggest the London attacks would not have happened but for the Iraq war. But in a broader sense it’s the same fight and the same enemy. And the people of London, the people of New York and the people of Baghdad– braving the fascists to vote and to enlist in the police and army and to get on with their lives– are on the same side.
