Fascists falling out

The football hooligan who was elected as a councillor for the British National Party in Burnley has resigned his seat after being suspended from the party after a fight at the BNP’s ‘Red White and Blue Festival’ in Clitheroe.

Luke Smith, who before being elected had been banned from the Turf Moor football ground due to his violent behaviour, is the nephew of the man who was the key organiser in the BNP’s rise in Burnley.

When I first heard this news I presumed that Smith had got involved in a punch-up with anti-fascists protesting at the festival. But it turns out that it was BNP officials he was scrapping with. In fact it was a bit more than scrapping – I am informed that he ‘glassed’ one of BNP leader Nick Griffin’s ‘heavies’.
