From the BBC: “A small number of BBC stars and managers “behave unacceptably” at work, and bosses often fail to tackle them, a report into the broadcaster has found.”
A report conducted by management consultancy Change Associates concluded there is not a widespread “toxic” culture at the BBC, but that there is “a minority of people” whose bad behaviour “is not addressed”.
I assumed they were referring to this sort of behaviour: “‘We’ll burn Jews like Hitler did’, says BBC contributor in Gaza”, according to a report in The Telegraph. “Samer Elzaenen has appeared on BBC Arabic more than a dozen times since the conflict erupted and even reported live last month”.
This. explains why the BBC’s Arabic service is now essentially a propaganda station caught out almost daily spreading falshoods and misinformation, according to a study by media monitoring group, Camera.
It is also why the BBC were – you will no doubt recall – forced to withdraw a ‘documentary’ after it appeared the production team they hired were working with a family with links to Hamas.
But no. This is not the “unacceptable behaviour” at the centre of thous thorough and diligent report.
This report came in the wake of the Huw Edwards scandal and covered, inter alia, aggressive behaviour in meetings, inappropriate comments, and abusive emails.
It is good that they are so self-reflective, I suppose, but really, Aunty has bigger fish to fry if it is to retain any credibility as a broadcaster of record.
