I’m assuming that it will pass in the Commons, and so here is a thread in which you can say “hurrah”.
Hurrah!
PS:
400-175!
Also:
Stephen Timms, the Labour MP for East Ham, said he would vote against the bill at third reading. He said that marriage revolved around children.
Lyn Brown, the Labour MP for West Ham, said Timms attended her wedding. Timms must have noticed that she was above child bearing age when she got married. Did that make her marriage invalid? Timms said he was speaking about church teaching hundreds of years ago.
You shouldn’t expect logic from Timms. He’s the idiot former Labour minister who was the subject of a murder attempt by a disciple of the Al Qaeda preacher, Anwar Al Awlaki: but who continues to work with and support Islamist institutions aligned with Al Awlaki – most of which of course host and promote horrific anti-gay hate preachers.
On another note, it appears as if more Tory MPs voted against equality than for. Just. So, well done Cameron. Some of the greatest Tory Prime Ministers backed legislation which their party opposed. Robert Peel was still right to repeal the Corn Laws.
Oh, and 20 Labour MPs voted for inequality. I’d expect most to be ‘religious types’.
George Galloway voted… for! Well done him.
The “Independent”, Nadine Dorries voted against. Well she does have a bit of a reputation for wrecking marriages!
