This video of Syrian soldiers shooting donkeys (were they demonstrating against Bashar al Assad?) is of course much more disturbing than previous videos of Iranian and Syrian forces beating and crushing motorcycles. But such behavior seems to come from a similar impulse which I can’t quite understand. Utter frustration?
Poktkin Azarmehr wonders sardonically if some of the people who have remained indifferent to the Assad regime’s slaughter of thousands of Syrian human beings will finally express their outrage now that government forces have turned their guns on defenseless animals.
Update: Of course they shoot people too. Friday in the Damascus suburb of Douma:
