Justin Trudeau, son of the late former Canadian prime minister Pierre Trudeau, has led Canada’s Liberal party to a big victory over incumbent Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservatives in Monday’s parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile the leftwing New Democratic party– which at one point was thought to have a chance of forming the next government– sank from being the official opposition party to third place among the parties.
