It shows a US soldier comforting a child fatally wounded in a suicide car bomb blast in Mosul, Iraq.
Unsurprisingly– but nevertheless disgustingly– the photo has been appropriated for anti-American purposes to suggest that the US was somehow responsible for this atrocity.
