Old curmudgeon complains about “feminized atmosphere”

Speaking about the Fort Lee, New Jersey, lane closure scandal, AKA Bridgegate, AKA “Nice access lanes you’ve got there. It would be a shame if anything happened to them,” Fox News’s Brit Hume said of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie:

“I would have to say that in this sort of feminized atmosphere in which we exist today, guys who are masculine and muscular like that in their private conduct, kind of old fashioned tough guys, run some risk…. This guy is very much an old fashioned masculine, muscular guy, and there are political risks associated with that. Maybe it shouldn’t be, but that’s how it is.”

In fact before the latest scandal broke, old-fashioned tough guy Christie was slightly ahead of Hillary Clinton (a female) in polling about a hypothetical 2016 presidential matchup. Other Republicans were far behind Clinton. So I’m not sure what “political risks” Hume was talking about.

Update: Yes, the guy on the left is the real Bruce Springsteen.
