The World Jewish Congress will hold its 14th Plenary Assembly in Budapest on 5-7 May 2013. Five hundred delegates and observers from the WJC’s affiliated Jewish communities and organizations in 100 countries are expected to convene in the Hungarian capital. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has confirmed that he will address the opening dinner on 5 May.
The German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has published an interview with Orbán, in which the prime minister was asked about his good friend Zsolt Bayer. Orbán said he admonished Bayer to revise his opinion that Roma are animals, which he did.
Orbán also said, “The anti-Semitism classifications of Bayer are not serious, if one looks at his publications.”
I wonder if the WJC delegates assembling in Budapest will ask Orbán why he is minimizing the crude antisemitic publications of his friend Zsolt Bayer.
