US Helsinki Commission holds hearing today on Hungary

The Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (US Helsinki Commission) will hold hearings today (3 p.m. EDT) in Washington on “The Trajectory of Democracy – Why Hungary Matters.”

Scheduled to testify are Kim Lane Scheppele, Princeton University; Sylvana Habdank-Kolaczkowska, Freedom House; and Paul A. Shapiro, U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Representatives of the Government of Hungary and the U.S. Department of State have been invited.

Eva S. Balogh of Hungarian Spectrum reports that the Helsinki Commission website should have a link to live coverage of the hearings at 7 p.m. London time and 8 p.m. Budapest time.
