Two new developments:
–Venezuela’s acting President Nicolas Maduro has authorized a formal inquiry into claims that Hugo Chavez’s death was the result of poisoning by foreign enemies.
“We will seek the truth,” Maduro told regional TV network Telesur. “We have the intuition that our commander Chavez was poisoned by dark forces that wanted him out of the way.”
Foreign scientists will be invited to join a state committee to probe the accusation, he said.
Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez was more specific, telling the BBC the United States and Israel were to blame for Chavez’s death.
(It’s remarkable that despite their tense relationship, Obama and Netanyahu are able to cooperate on so many nefarious deeds.)
–Despite his earlier promise, Maduro said it is unlikely that Chavez’s body will be embalmed and put on permanent display “because the decision to do so was made too late and the socialist leader’s body was not properly prepared on time.”
Oh, well. Next time they’ll know better.
