Mehdi Hasan answers his critics

There have been some considered and thoughtful responses to Mehdi Hasan’s recent piece on abortion.  His own latest post accepts some of these criticisms and is well worth reading.   Having read his first post, I sympathise with his objections to being accused of dishonestly concealing his religious motivations, to the misrepresentation or flattening of his position, and to being accused of being evil and misogynist.  He concludes:

[A]bortion isn’t a black-and-white issue; it’s a complex moral debate, involving rights and responsibilities, life and death, on which well-meaning, moral people come to different ethical conclusions.

This seems a reasonable starting point even if you don’t happen to agree with his conclusions.
