Instead of Israeli authorities simply rounding up and sending back the “pro-Palestinian flytilla” activists arriving at Ben Gurion airport, can I suggest an alternative?
How about offering them the option of:
a) Going back where they came from; or
b) Touring the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem before being allowed to head to the West Bank.
I doubt this will turn any of these activists into Zionists. But it just might give some of them an idea of why Israel’s existence and security are so important to Jews. And it might make some of them think twice before blithely equating the experience of the Jews in Nazi-occupied Europe to even the greatest difficulties faced by Palestinians in the territories.
