Light A Candle, Do A Good Deed

Heartbreaking:

The woman who lost two children and her husband five days ago when an Islamist gunman attacked a school in Toulouse has issued a plea for Jews to do a good deed in their memory.

Eva Sandler, whose husband Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and sons Aryeh and Gavriel were murdered by Mohammed Merah at the Ozer Hatorah school on Monday, along with eight -year-old Miriam Monsonego, said her heart was broken.

In a statement published on the Chabad website, she said: “There are no ways for me to be able to express the great and all-consuming pain… May no – one ever have to endure such pain and suffering.”

But she added: “The spirit of the Jewish people can never be extinguished. To all those who wish to bring consolation to our family and contentment to the souls of the departed: Let’s continue their lives on this Earth.”

She said people should light candles this Shabbat and on others to “bring more light into the world” and asked people to invite guests to their homes on Pesach “so that all have a place at a Seder”.

She added: “To all those who wish to bring consolation to our family and contentment to the souls of the departed: let’s continue their lives on this Earth.”

Alec adds: as if it could not be any more distressing, Gavriel was named after Gavriel Holtzberg.
