In the Syrian town of Binnish, anti-regime demonstrators display a sign clearly aimed at the Assad-supporting Russian government, proclaiming “Your Silence is Killing Us.”
Russia is doing its best to weaken any sort of UN Security Council resolution on Syria to the point of meaninglessness, and threatening to veto anything that might make Assad nervous.
Clearly Syrians are taking note.
Similarly they are noting the abject support of Hezbollah and its leader Hassan Nasrallah for Assad’s brutal crackdown on his opponents.
In a recent video, a Free Syria Army fighter calls Hezbollah (Party of God) “Hezbashaytan,” meaning “Party of Satan.”
And FSA spokesman Colonel Ammar al-Wawi told Asharq Al-Awsat that Nasrallah would be held accountable for his actions “in the revolutionary courts following the victory of the [Syrian] revolution.”
