David Osler reports that George Galloway has been declared the RESPECT-Jamaat candidate for Poplar and Limehouse at the next general election.
Kumar Murshid, the former Livingstone groupie who defected to RESPECT earlier this year, has not been shortlisted for Bethnal Green and Bow. Instead, he has thrown his lot in with the Socialist Workers’ Party mob.
Therefore, the choice for that constituency is between:
“Councillor Shahed Ali, Mr Hasanat Hussain, Councillor Abjol Miah and Tower Hamlets Respect Vice Chair Ms Farhana Zaman”
My guess is that Miah will get the nomination.
If he wins, he will be the United Kingdom’s first Jamaat-e-Islami MP.
