Iraq

Interesting to Lawyers

There is a debate this evening, presented by the LSE Lawyers’ Alumni Group between Professor Christopher Greenwood QC and Dr Gerry Simpson entitled “Iraq: was it legal?” .

Professor Greenwood is “a leading international lawyer at the London School of Economics and a barrister at Essex Court Chambers. He has already made his views public that he did not believe a second UN resolution was necessary and the right to use force against Saddam derived from UN Security Resolution 678, the resolution that first authorised force to expel Iraq from Kuwait in 1990.”

It has been suggested that he was the ghost-writer of the Attorney General’s advice to the Government.
