People reading weblogs

Matthew Tempest at the Guardian Online proves that you can sometimes get a good news story out of reading weblogs.

Guardian Online picked up Jackie’s exclusive on Nigella Lawson providing the menu for George Bush’s upcoming visit. Downing Street “refused to deny” the story.

Tempest gives his source as an “internet website” without mentioning Jackie’s site specifically which was a pity, especially for an internet version of a paper that could have provided a link to the blog. Perhaps it still seems a bit naff for a journalist to admit to getting leads from bloggers?

On a similar theme, the smokers’ pressure group FOREST have also been keeping an eye on blog debates. Their Mediawatch section noted our libertarian contribution to the debate in their article: Stephen Pollard: I was wrong.
