An American Lt. General described in the Washington Post as a top satellite spy director thinks he knows where the Iraqi WMD’s went. He says
vehicle traffic photographed by U.S. spy satellites indicated that material and documents related to the arms programs were shipped to Syria.
Hmm. Maybe. He also says
the Iraqi government carried out operations after the fall of Baghdad in April to cover up the hidden weapons programs. The chaos following might have included both looting and “organized dispersal made to look like looting,”
It does beg the question of why they should go to all that effort though. Baghdad’s in flames, the Republican Guard are running away again and the priority is hiding WMD’s. Why ? Such an effort to pretend there were no WMD’s in Iraq would be kind of redundant by that stage I would have thought.
If anyone has any inspired thoughts on this I’d be interested to hear them.
