The not-so-perfect storm

Hurricane Isabel (or what was by then a tropical storm) blew through the Washington, DC, area Thursday and Friday. It didn’t seem particularly ferocious to me, but it managed to knock a tremendous number of trees onto power lines. There are still hundreds of thousands without power on the East Coast. As almost always, though, it could have been worse.
