It appears that George W. “Bring ’em on” Bush, the tough talker from Texas, turned into a wimp (scroll down to Going south) when he met President Thabo Mbeki in South Africa recently.
Based on the US adminstration’s rhetoric, it seemed reasonable to expect that Bush would try his hardest to get Mbeki to change his ridiculously weak-kneed and ineffective approach toward the abominable Mugabe government in Zimbabwe.
Bush said after the meeting he had no “intention of second-guessing [Mbeki’s] tactics.” For his part Mbeki said Mugabe’s ruling party was currently “engaged in discussions” with the main opposition movement in Zimbabwe– which turned out to be untrue.
So now what, George?
