“Democracy is under threat in the United States; anyone who objects to the conflict in Iraq is not allowed to say so,” claims Gary Younge in the Guardian today. I am a bit sceptical about this but of course I am in no position to really judge. Some of you are – I’d be interested to hear the views of American readers on this. One certainly picks up a level of hysteria by reading right-wing blogs, but what is the overall mood. Have the intolerent sections of the right become so hegemonic?
