Operation Danube: A Slight Return

In 1968, Russian tanks rolled into (then) Czechoslovakia in a ‘special operation’ – dubbed “Operation Danube” – Moscow deemed necessary to stop the liberalisation of that country.

It is only fitting – and quite poetic – that now Czech tanks are on rolling-stock, headed for Ukraine to help in the fight against the latest special operation by Russia.

The Prague Spring has sprung back.
