Although Angela Eagle has now confirmed that she will launch a formal challenge for the Labour Party leadership on Monday, Corbyn insists he is under no pressure. Speaking at the Durham Miners’ Gala he informed listeners that the real pressure was on families who couldn’t feed their children and workers on precarious contracts. He also stated that he has ‘patience that is infinite to answer questions, questions, questions’ – which may come as news to some journalists. Angela Eagle, along with any other MPs who have dared to challenge their leader, has of course been told she is not welcome at the Gala. Stalin, by contrast, is apparently a welcome presence.
