Obama,  Stateside

A late entry

For awhile now, I’ve been running an informal contest to determine the most cringe-inducing Republican member of the House of Representatives from Texas.

So far the contestants include:

Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert, 1st District

Steve “If Babies Had Guns” Stockman, 36th District

Randy “You Should Be Ashamed for Doing Your Job” Neugebauer, 19th District

Blake “Sometimes You Have to Make a Small Sacrifice” Farenthold, 27th District

Now we’ve got another entry: Randy Weber of the 14th District, who tweeted the following while waiting for President Obama to deliver his State of the Union speech to Congress on Tuesday:

Accusing Obama of being a Nazi, a Socialist and a dictator in 140 characters or less is quite an achievement, I’ll admit.

This may have something to do with Obama’s promise to take executive action in certain areas (such as raising the minimum wage for workers employed by federal contractors) when Congress refuses to act.

How this makes Obama any more Nazi-like, socialistic or dictatorial than other presidents who have issued executive orders, I’m not exactly sure. In fact, going strictly by the numbers he’s been far less “dictatorial” than most presidents of the past 100 years or so, Democrat or Republican.

There are 19 other GOP House members from Texas, so I’m sure we’ll have more contestants.
