For reasons that are not entirely clear, Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz recently thought it appropriate to demonstrate to an audience at a Baptist church that the words to “Amazing Grace” could be sung to the tune of the opening song of the “Gilligan’s Island” TV series.
For other reasons that are not entirely clear, this called to mind what a friend once told me: that the words to Robert Frost’s poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening can be sung to the tune of “Hernando’s Hideaway.”
