I am sure most readers will be familiar with the views of Haitham al Haddad. He has been banned from more than one university, and has also been the target of a Hope not Hate campaign. Now it seems that he has been invited to speak at City University’s Islamic Society’s annual dinner. I’ll remind people of just one of his horrifying statements.
“from my angle it does make perfect sense” (on the death penalty for apostasy in the context of an Islamic state) (13:25)
Although of course most Muslim students would not support this interpretation of Islam, it is baffling that this society can host a speaker with such chilling views when a student union atheist society got hauled over the coals simply for posting a Jesus and Mo cartoon on their Facebook page.
