As it happens I think both Sarah Palin and Tom Brokaw have a point about how glittery, celebrity-obsessed and overly-cozy the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner has become.
Nonetheless President Obama did his annual shtick at the event last night.
The bit toward the end about the new Spielberg film “Obama” starring Daniel Day-Lewis is pretty funny.
Unfortunately, simply ridiculing the paranoia of the far Right doesn’t make it disappear. Last week Louie Gohmert shot ahead of Steve Stockman in the competition for the Most Cringe-Inducing Republican Member of Congress from Texas when he claimed that Muslim Brotherhood members in the Obama administration are influencing government decisions.
Which is pretty frightening when you consider that the Muslim Brotherhood also controls the American Conservative Union and its premier event, the Conservative Political Action Conference.
In fact I expect the Brotherhood is in the process of extending its secretive influence into all sorts of unexpected places. Inshallah.
