MEMO publishes Islamist who claims Jews use children’s blood to bake bread

This is a guest post by Max Shachtman.

They’re not even trying anymore, are they?

The pro-Hamas organ Middle East Monitor Online has published another paranoid essay that does us the favour of summarising its main points at the end.

In conclusion:

The project of the Jewish state has similar beginnings to colonialism and colonised states.
The project of the Jewish state was imposed on us, the Palestinians.
There is complete understanding among Zionists about our removal from our own land.
The Palestinians may be allowed a quasi mini-state with enough to ensure that we don’t grow too strong, but that we don’t starve.
The numbers of Jews in the state is equal to the number of Palestinians in historic Palestine but they are the minority to Palestinians in historic Palestine and the diaspora, who have a legal right to return to their country.
The aim is to transfer us from our land; that is, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
The clear indications are that the Zionist project of Israel is bound to implode, sooner or later

The piece was written by Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Islamic Movement in Israel. Who’s he?

The head of the Islamic Movement in Israel’s Northern Branch, Ra’ad Salah, was charged Tuesday in Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court with incitement to violence and racism, over a fiery speech he gave a year ago in which he invoked the blood libel.

During the speech at the February 16, 2007 protest in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi Joz, Salah accused Jews of using children’s blood to bake bread.

“We have never allowed ourselves to knead [the dough for] the bread that breaks the fast in the holy month of Ramadan with children’s blood,” he said. “Whoever wants a more thorough explanation, let him ask what used to happen to some children in Europe, whose blood was mixed in with the dough of the [Jewish] holy bread.”

Just in time for Passover, then.

Salah’s also an ex-con, having served two years in prison for “having contact with a foreign agent, as well as financial crimes related to the Islamic Movement.”

Just another characteristic installment from a “thinktank with Palestinian sympathies.”
