On his Fox News TV show, Glenn Beck became the latest in a long line of distinguished Christians over the past two thousand years or so to tell us that “the Jews” killed Jesus.
This is kind of complex, because Jesus did identify with the victims. But Jesus wasn’t a victim, he was a conqueror. Jesus conquered death. He chose to give his life. Jesus didn’t come back from the dead and make the Jews pay for what they did. That would have been an abomination.
The good news, according to Beck, is that Jesus let the Jews off the hook for killing him. And Christians have hardly bothered us since then.
Of course the Jewish comedian Lenny Bruce let the truth slip out many years ago:
Alright, I’ll clear the air once and for all, and confess. Yes, we did it. I did it, my family. I found a note in my basement. It said: “We killed him, signed, Morty.”
As a bonus, here’s another great comedian, Lewis Black, with his take on Glenn Beck’s “Nazi Tourettes.”
As Gawker.com notes: “Glenn Beck is going insaner and insaner, and it’s probably not going to end well.”
