Here is one reason why I am not a libertarian: Unlike the ultra-libertarians of Samizdata I think Labour MP Debra Shipley’s bill to ban the advertising of unhealthy foods on kids television slots is a very good idea.
Let the burger joints and sweet manufacturers try to convince parents that their unhealthy products are worth buying, rather than use television to drill their marketing message into the minds of infant school kids.
Why should we allow companies to use the airwaves to counter the message to kids from their parents, teachers, health and food experts in favour of healthy food?
