It seems playwright Arnold Wesker won’t be going on a long-planned cultural junket to Egypt after all:
On the final day of the festival, Sir Arnold was to have been presented with a certificate of merit by the Egyptian Minister of Culture.
This weekend, however, organisers wrote to inform him that “due to the unfortunate events in Lebanon” all invitations had been postponed.
Rational explanations welcome.
