If this report is true and the Iraqi government really is trying to rush Saddam to trial within the next couple of months it doesn’t bode well for due process in Iraq.
There should be more than enough evidence to convict Saddam for any number of the crimes he is alleged to have committed without resorting to this sort of thing.
Taking legal shortcuts by depriving his lawyers of details of the case against the ex-dictator will be a massive own-goal for the new government and provide those who still have sympathy with Saddam with ammunition they don’t deserve.
