“Alright boys, I’ve had a look at the pension arrangements the British government is offering for serving as a minister in the Northern Ireland Assembly. Just one more job, eh, for old times sake. This “running a country” lark isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be, anyhow.
I send this letter to the Socialist Worker last week:
Amidst all the hullaballoo about the IRA’s supposed robbery of the Northern Bank, nobody seems to have noticed that that this bank is just one tentacle of global capitalism.
Danske Bank, a Danish outfit, has taken control of Northern Bank.
Now, I’m not saying that the IRA did commit this robbery: but isn’t the IRA a national liberation movement? And shouldn’t all national liberation movements be supported if they strike a blow against the economic imperialism of Danish global capitalism?
Whatever the truth of the situation, we should never fail to offer our critical but unconditional support to national liberation struggles all over the world, in whatever they choose to do.
They haven’t printed it yet. But if they nick my analysis, I’m suing!
