The Scotsman reminds us that the Greens may have seven Members of the Edinburgh Parliament but their ideas don’t always go down well with farming folk.
At a recent rural affairs conference in Perth Mark Ballard – a Green Party MSP -stormed off the stage after organic farming techniques were ridiculed for producing:
weed infested middens of farms and fields saturated with copper sulphate
and
lousy, worm-ridden, fly-struck sheep
by farmer and “Cartesian rationalist” Jock Stewart.
“I have been fighting this fight for the last ten years and there are times when I despair. The creeping miasma of green drivel is everywhere.” he said to an audience which cheered Ballards departure.
