Some interesting Iraq stories in the weekend papers. The New York Times has a report on how the US attempted to undermine the Iraqi military well before the war began, including striking a deal with a leading regime official.
Also in the NYT is a report on the return to Iraq of the terrorist group Ansar al-Islam. ITV also has news of other terrorist groups operating in the area.
And then there is this piece from Andrew Buncombe in the Independent reporting that US air force sources admit they used an upgraded version of napalm during the war. The report suggests that the Pentagon were less than honest when asked about the issue during the war.
